Tips for better AI beats
- →Put the BPM in. A number is the clearest instruction you can give — it decides the whole feel of the beat.
- →Write "instrumental". If you plan to rap or sing over it, say instrumental so the AI doesn't add its own vocal.
- →Describe sounds, not artists. "Sliding 808s, sparse piano" works; artist names are ignored or rejected, and you don't own their sound anyway.
- →Generate two, keep one. Each generation gives two versions. Pick the one with the better drums and redo just the intro or ending with the AI music editor if needed.
AI beat generator FAQ
How is this different from the hip-hop generator?
This page is for beats: drum-led instrumentals with 808s, hi-hats and a loop you can write over. The hip-hop generator leans towards full tracks, and the AI rap generator makes songs with an AI rapper on them.
Do the beats come with vocals?
Switch on Instrumental and you get the beat only. Leave it off and the model adds a vocal, which is usually not what you want for a type beat.
Can I get a beat at a specific tempo?
Ask for one in the prompt and the model usually lands close, but it is not a hard setting. If tempo matters, name it and describe the feel: '140 BPM, fast hi-hat rolls, half-time drums'.
Can I rap over it and release the song?
On paid plans, yes — commercial use is included for beats made while subscribed (see our terms). If you would rather have the AI add vocals to a beat you already made, use the add vocals tool.
Is the beat generator free?
A free account gets 20 credits on signup plus 5 more every day you check in, so that is about 10 songs in your first day and 2 a day after that, with no card. You do need an account — generation is not open to signed-out visitors. MP3 download comes with any paid plan.
What format do I get?
MP3 by default, which drops straight into any DAW, editor or phone. Lossless WAV export is part of the Pro plan.
