Song Prompts for AI Music
How to write a music prompt
A prompt is a brief, not a wish. The generator reads six things from it, in roughly this order of weight. Every prompt below has all six; that is why they work.
Name the style in the first three words: 'lo-fi hip hop', 'outlaw country', 'deep house'. Two genres joined with 'meets' is fine; five is noise.
'melancholic but comforting', 'confident', 'menacing but not cluttered'. A mood word steers the arrangement more than any adjective about quality.
'brushed drums, Rhodes piano, upright bass'. Instruments are the most reliable lever: the model follows them closely.
'slow', 'easy shuffle', '90 BPM'. A number usually lands close; a feel word always lands.
'no vocals' for a bed under video; 'female vocal, soft' or 'chant-along hook' when you want a singer. Or switch on Instrumental in the generator.
'for a rainy study session', 'for a platformer level', 'for our tenth anniversary'. The scene tells the model what the music is for, which decides a hundred small choices.
What to leave out
- →Quality words ('high quality', 'professional', 'best'). They change nothing.
- →Artist names. Describe the sound instead: 'dusty drum break, jazzy sample chop' beats a name.
- →Long stories in the prompt when you want them sung. Put the words in Custom mode as lyrics instead.
- →Contradictions: 'calm and energetic', 'minimal with a huge drop'. Pick one.

Frequently asked questions
What is a song prompt?
The short description you give an AI music generator: genre, mood, instruments, tempo, vocals and what the song is for. The prompts on this page are complete examples you can use as they are or edit.
Do these prompts work in Suno and other generators?
The same description style works in most prompt-based generators, since they all read genre, mood, instruments and tempo the same way. Here they are wired straight into the generator: click Use it and the prompt is already in the box.
How long should a music prompt be?
One to three sentences. Under about 200 characters for a guest, up to 1,000 with a free account. Longer prompts do not produce better songs; more specific ones do.
Can I write the lyrics myself?
Yes. A prompt describes the music; lyrics are a separate thing. Switch to Custom mode, paste your words and they are sung exactly as written. The lyrics to song page opens in that mode.
What if the result does not match the prompt?
Change one thing at a time. Swap the instrument list first, then the tempo, then the mood. Regenerating with the same prompt also gives a different take, since every generation is new.
