How the AI song cover generator works
The model keeps what makes the song yours — the melody and its shape — and rebuilds everything around it.
- 1
Upload a recording you own
A demo, a voice memo, a song you wrote — MP3, WAV, OGG or FLAC, up to 8 minutes.
- 2
Describe the new style
Genre, instruments, mood, tempo. Optionally give it new lyrics, or make it instrumental.
- 3
Get two takes
The melody and structure stay; the arrangement, sound and feel change. Both takes land in My Music.
AI cover styles to try
The melody stays, so the style is where the surprise comes from. Copy one of these into the style box and adjust it.
Jazz lounge
Turns a pop song into something you'd hear in a hotel bar.
smoky jazz lounge, upright bass, brushed drums, soft piano, slow swing
Acoustic unplugged
Strips a busy track back to its bones — great for hearing if the song itself is good.
acoustic unplugged, fingerpicked guitar, intimate vocal, no drums
Orchestral
Makes a simple tune feel like a film score.
cinematic orchestral, strings and brass, big crescendos, choir in the chorus
Lo-fi
A study-beat version of your song.
lo-fi hip hop, dusty drums, warm Rhodes, vinyl crackle, relaxed
Rock
Gives a soft ballad some teeth.
alt rock, distorted guitars, driving drums, raw energetic vocal
80s synthpop
Bright, nostalgic and very danceable.
80s synthpop, gated reverb drums, analog synths, catchy and upbeat
Style cover or voice cover?
Style cover — this page
Same song, new genre. The melody and structure stay; the instruments, arrangement and feel change. You can also give it new lyrics, or make it instrumental.
Voice cover — in your own voice
Same song, sung by you. Record a short sample once on the AI singing voice page, then upload the song there and it is re-sung in your voice. We don't make covers in famous singers' voices.
Tips for a better AI song cover
- →Start from a clean recording. A clear vocal and a simple mix give the model a melody it can follow. A phone recording in a noisy room gives it guesswork.
- →Describe instruments, not just a genre. "Jazz" can mean a big band or a solo piano. Name two or three instruments and a tempo.
- →Keep the tempo in reach. A ballad turned into drum and bass sounds forced. Covers sound most natural within about 30% of the original tempo.
- →Match syllables if you change the lyrics. New words are sung on the original melody, so lines with the same number of syllables fit best.
AI song cover FAQ
What does the AI song cover generator do?
It keeps the melody and structure of the audio you upload and re-records it in the style you describe — new instruments, new arrangement, new feel. You get two takes to choose from.
Can it make my song sound like a specific singer?
Not a real artist — we don't clone or imitate anyone's voice. But on Pro you can have a song sung in your own voice: record a short sample once on the AI singing voice page, then upload the song there and it is re-sung in your voice.
Can I cover a famous song?
Only if you have the rights to it. Uploads that match an existing copyrighted recording are rejected by our model provider, and we don't offer a way around that. Your own songs, demos and recordings you've licensed work.
Can I change the lyrics?
Yes — add new lyrics and they will be sung over the original melody. For an instrumental cover, switch vocals off.
Is the AI song cover generator free?
It is part of the Pro plan (from $7.99 a month): 5 credits per cover, and you get two takes. If the cover fails, the credits go back automatically. On the free plan you can still make new songs from scratch.
Where do my covers go? Are they public?
Into My Music, and they stay private — covers are never shown in Explore. From there you can download them, or redo a single section in the AI Music Editor.
Hear your song in a style you never tried
Upload a recording above, describe the new sound, and get two takes back.
