Add Vocals to an Instrumental
- Vocals over your beat, or a beat under your vocal
- Upload up to 50MB
- Pro plan · ◆ 5 credits
Works best with
A clean recording under two minutes. If your track already has both vocals and instruments, run it through the stem splitter first — this tool adds the half that is missing, it does not replace what is there.
How to add vocals to an instrumental with AI
Upload the half you have. The model writes and records the half that is missing, in the same key and tempo.

Pick a direction and upload
Add vocals to an instrumental, or add an instrumental under a dry vocal. MP3 or WAV under 50MB, ideally a clean recording under two minutes.
- 2
Describe what should come back
For vocals: the story, the mood and the kind of voice (male, female or any). For an instrumental: the style, the instruments and the tempo.

The new part is generated to fit your upload. Play it in the browser, then download the finished MP3. It costs 5 credits and your original file is not changed.
How to describe the vocal you want
The AI writes the words and the melody to fit your beat, so the description is your only steering wheel. Four things make the biggest difference.
Who sings
Vague: a vocal
Better: a husky female vocal, close to the mic, with a two-part harmony in the chorus
How they deliver it
Vague: rap over this
Better: a laid-back rap verse with a conversational flow, then a sung hook
What it is about
Vague: a sad song
Better: a song about driving past your old house and not stopping, bittersweet rather than sad
Where the energy goes
Vague: make it catchy
Better: quiet verses, a big chorus that repeats one line, a whispered last line
Add vocals or add an instrumental?
You have a beat → add vocals
A beat you made, an instrumental you bought a license for, a backing track from the stem splitter. The AI writes and sings a vocal in the same key and tempo.
You have a vocal → add an instrumental
A cappella singing, a voice memo of a melody, a rap with no beat. Describe the style and the AI builds a backing track underneath it, following your timing.
Add vocals FAQ
What does this tool actually do?
It adds the half a track is missing. Upload an instrumental and it writes and sings a vocal over it; upload a dry vocal and it builds a backing track underneath. It does not replace parts that are already there.
My song already has vocals and instruments. Can I use it?
Not directly. Run it through the stem splitter first to pull out the vocal or the instrumental, then bring that single part here.
What files can I upload?
MP3 or WAV up to 50MB. Clean recordings under two minutes work best; heavy reverb, crowd noise or clipping make it harder for the model to lock onto the key and tempo.
Can I choose the voice?
Yes. Pick male, female or any voice, and describe the delivery in the prompt: a soulful chorus, a laid-back rap verse, two voices trading lines.
How much does it cost, and is there a free option?
Adding vocals or an instrumental is part of the Pro plan (from $7.99 a month): 5 credits per run. On the free plan you can make full songs from scratch, vocals included, on the text to song page.
Can I give it exact lyrics to sing?
Not on this page — you describe what the vocal is about and the AI writes the words to fit your track. To have your own lyrics sung word for word, use Lyrics to Song, which builds the music around them.
What do I get back, and can I use it commercially?
A full-length MP3 with the new part mixed in. Commercial use of what the generator creates is included on paid plans (see our terms); for the part you uploaded, you need the rights to that recording.
Finish the track you already have
Upload the instrumental or the vocal above and hear the other half in a minute or two.
