## Beat styles you can make

Every beat style has a tempo and a few signature sounds. Name both and the AI beat maker gets it right far more often. (For boom bap and classic hip-hop, see the hip-hop beat generator.)

### Trap

Rolling hi-hats, heavy 808s, dark melodies.
trap beat, 140 BPM, rolling hi-hats, deep 808 bass, dark piano melody, instrumental

### Drill

Sliding 808s and stuttered drums.
drill beat, 142 BPM, sliding 808s, syncopated hi-hats, ominous strings, instrumental

### Afrobeats

Warm, bouncy and made for dancing.
afrobeats instrumental, 105 BPM, log drums, shaker groove, bright guitar licks

### Reggaeton

The dembow rhythm, ready for a hook.
reggaeton beat, 95 BPM, dembow rhythm, plucky synths, heavy kick, instrumental

### R&B

Smooth, late-night and spacious.
r&b instrumental, 75 BPM, smooth keys, soft finger snaps, warm bass, sensual

### Jersey club

Fast, bouncy kicks for dance videos.
jersey club beat, 140 BPM, bouncy kick pattern, vocal chops, energetic, instrumental

## Tips for better AI beats

- →Put the BPM in. A number is the clearest instruction you can give — it decides the whole feel of the beat.
- →Write "instrumental". If you plan to rap or sing over it, say instrumental so the AI doesn't add its own vocal.
- →Describe sounds, not artists. "Sliding 808s, sparse piano" works; artist names are ignored or rejected, and you don't own their sound anyway.
- →Generate two, keep one. Each generation gives two versions. Pick the one with the better drums and redo just the intro or ending with the AI music editor if needed.

## AI beat generator FAQ

### How is this different from the hip-hop generator?

This page is for beats: drum-led instrumentals with 808s, hi-hats and a loop you can write over. The hip-hop generator leans towards full tracks, and the AI rap generator makes songs with an AI rapper on them.

### Do the beats come with vocals?

Switch on Instrumental and you get the beat only. Leave it off and the model adds a vocal, which is usually not what you want for a type beat.

### Can I get a beat at a specific tempo?

Ask for one in the prompt and the model usually lands close, but it is not a hard setting. If tempo matters, name it and describe the feel: '140 BPM, fast hi-hat rolls, half-time drums'.

### Can I rap over it and release the song?

On paid plans, yes — commercial use is included for beats made while subscribed (see our terms). If you would rather have the AI add vocals to a beat you already made, use the add vocals tool.

### Is the beat generator free?

A free account gets 20 credits on signup plus 5 more every day you check in, so that is about 10 songs in your first day and 2 a day after that, with no card. You do need an account — generation is not open to signed-out visitors. MP3 download comes with any paid plan.

### What format do I get?

MP3 by default, which drops straight into any DAW, editor or phone. Lossless WAV export is part of the Pro plan.
